Since the late 1990s, the American artist and filmmaker Lynn Hershman Leeson has gained international acclaim for her feminist science-fiction movies starring Tilda Swinton, such as Conceiving Ada (1997). A current solo show at Bridget Donahue's new gallery on Bowery along with a major career survey at Germany's ZKM Center for Art and Media finally highlight Hershman Leeson's pioneering practices in photography, sculpture, video, and multi-media interactive installation, which the artist has been pursuing for more than five decades.
